In this omicron phase of the pandemic, Marc has been a BEAST at trip planning. He planned several versions of a trip to SEAsia for us, but in interchangeable segments so that if we couldn't get into one country, he could insert a segment from a parallel trip. Laos has been the wildcard, and at the last minute they said travelers could enter, but only in tour groups. Somewhere along the way, late in the planning, we remembered Sri Lanka and how very much we enjoyed it, so when the "pull the trigger" date came and we had to cancel hotels, we decided instead to scrap the whole SEAsia trip and go instead to Sri Lanka.
And it's a better idea, at the moment, to travel exclusively to one country. Otherwise it would be a constant routine of testing to change countries, and all that mess. So we're excited! Unlike our trip to Mexico, which suffered terribly as a Plan B to our planned-and-hoped-for SEAsia trip, this is not at all a Plan B. This is a great Different Plan A. (But SEAsia, we keep trying, we miss you so much!)
And so off we'll go to Sri Lanka, where we anticipate lots of sunshine and warm weather (85 degrees-ish, a treat compared to the cloudy, snowy, below-zero temps of the Catskills) and even better, lots of incredible food. The masthead photo features egg hoppers, at Buckingham Place in Tangalle, which I took on our last trip. Egg hoppers are so, so good, and I've dreamed about them for eight years. We're hopping all over the country, and I love egg hoppers, hence the blog's title.
